Industry Veteran to Manage Avnet's Relationship with Oracle Worldwide
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Avnet Technology Solutions, the IT solutions distribution leader and an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), announced the promotion of Mike Hurst to vice president, global supplier business executive, focused on Avnet's Oracle relationship worldwide. Hurst was the vice president and general manager of Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, Sun Solutions group for the past three years, and he has worked closely with the Oracle executive team throughout its acquisition and integration of Sun Microsystems. Hurst will report to Phil Gallagher, president, Avnet Technology Solutions, Global.

"In this new role, Mike will help us closely align Avnet's business with Oracle's channel strategy to further expand the vital role Avnet's partners play in bringing complete solutions, including hardware, software and services, to market. Hurst has been in the technology distribution industry for 16 years. Prior to joining Avnet, Hurst served as vice president of mature technologies for Access Distribution, responsible for its business operations and strategic direction around servers, storage, software and services. He has also held leadership roles in procurement, marketing and contracts management.
